Nigeria will hope they secure a group B top spot finish while Ireland on the other hand will hope they can dash the West African’s hope of a place in the round of 16 of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup when they do battle at the Suncorp Stadium on Monday.

The Irish were one of eight teams to make their debut at the Mundial and have already been eliminated from the competition, having lost their opening two games. The most recent came in a 2-1 defeat against Canada last week.

Nigeria, meanwhile, showed their class to come from behind to claim a 3-2 victory over co-hosts Australia last Thursday. The victory took Nigeria to the summit of Group B on four points, while Ireland are bottom of the standings on zero points.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides. Ireland have won just one of their seven games this calendar year (five losses). Nigeria have won four of the five World Cup games where they have scored the opening goal. Nigeria are seeking to qualify for the World Cup knockout rounds for the third time in their history. Ireland have scored just two goals in their last seven games.

Nigeria are Bookmaker’s favourite to win this a whooping odds of over 2.35. A risk worth taking going by the Super Falcons recent form. Ireland have not been that bad in their debut world Cup and that is the reason the Bookmakers believe they can stop their Monday opponent by awarding a odd of 3.33 to them.

Our in-house experts have their say on this game. Judging by the spirit in the camp of the Nigerians, they believe this is their game. An end to end stuff it will be at Suncorp Stadium and that has led to our 5 predictions.
